ND officials meet to discuss party’s future

A number of top New Democracy officials met on Wednesday in the absence of conservative leader Antonis Samaras, who was in Brussels, to discuss the party’s future, Kathimerini understands.

The lunch gathering was called by former Education Minister Marietta Giannakou and included nine current New Democracy MPs, including Dora Bakoyannis, Nikos Dendias, Costis Hatzidakis, Olga Kefaloyianni and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is the party’s parliamentary spokesman.

Members of the New Democracy government led by Costas Karamanlis between 2004 and 2009 were also present at the discussion, as was the leader of the party’s youth wing (ONNED), Sakis Ioannidis, Central Macedonia Governor Apostolos Tzitzicostas and Glyfada Mayor Giorgos Papanikolaou.
