Fifteen detained as anarchists stage protest in Parliament courtyard

A group of anti-establishment protesters entered the Parliament courtyard Wednesday to demand the abolition of “Type C” maximum security prisons and the release of convicted terrorist Savvas Xeros, who has serious health issues.

Police detained 15 people.

In a statement, conservative New Democracy opposition attacked the government over the incident, adding that its failures were creating a sense of “widespread insecurity.”
