Two more arrested over terrorist jailbreak plot
The anti-terrorism squad arrested two people on Thursday as part of its ongoing investigation into an alleged plan to help members of the urban guerrilla group Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire escape from jail.
Officers arrested a 27-year-old man, thought to be an Albanian national, and his 24-year-old wife.
The man is suspected of acting as a conduit in the delivery of a Kalashnikov assault rifle to 22-year-old Angeliki Spyropoulou, who is alleged to have helped November 17 terrorist Savvas Xeros put together the escape plan while he was on the run from authorities.
Both Xeros and Spyropoulou have since been captured.
