Greek Parliament to debate, vote on gov’t proposal for bailout inquiry

Greek Parliament is due to debate on Monday afternoon the government’s proposal for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the signing of the country’s two memorandums with international lenders.

The debate is due to be followed by a vote. The coalition needs a majority of those present for its proposal to be adopted. SYRIZA and Independent Greeks want the parliamentary probe to span the years from 2010 to 2014.

PASOK has suggested that the inquiry should also include the 2004 to 2009 period, when New Democracy was in power. The conservatives have proposed the investigation stretching back to 1981, when PASOK first came to office.
