Anti-establishment protesters take over SYRIZA office in Iraklio
Anti-establishment protesters occupied SYRIZA’s offices in Iraklio, Crete, on Monday in the latest such demonstration demanding greater rights for prisoners.
The group hung a banner from the balcony declaring solidarity with prisoners who are demanding the scrapping of maximum security prisons and the release from custody of relatives of members of urban guerrilla groups.
Last week, Alternate Minister for Citizens’ Protection openly criticised the government for failing to clap down on such protests. His comments came after a group of demonstrators entered Parliament’s courtyard unchallenged.
