Turkish jets violate Greek air space

Turkish fighter jets violated Greek air space between the islands of Lesvos and Limnos in the eastern and northeastern Aegean on Wednesday afternoon, Defense Ministry officials said.

A formation of six Turkish F-16s entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) between the two islands shortly before 2.45 p.m., the officials said.

Two of the Turkish jets broke from the formation and flew over the islands of Kinaros and Levitha.

Greek jets were scrambled to intercept the Turkish airplanes, the officials said.
