Murder-suicide suspected in Salamina body discovery
Police believe that a 35-year-old man found dead next to the body of a 44-year-old woman on the island of Salamina, off Piraeus, shot himself after killing the woman.
The two bodies were found in a car parked in the man’s garage in the Foinikas area of the island. The woman had a stomach wound, while the man had been shot in the head.
The woman was married to another man, with whom she had two children.
The 35-year-old was also married.
Police are investigating why the latter, who was a coast guard officer, turned his service firearm on his lover and then himself.
It is believed that the 44-year-old had told her husband about the affair a few hours before the incident.
The 35-year-old had not informed his pregnant wife.
