Greece hit by bad weather on Thursday

Heavy rain, low temperatures, strong winds and snowfall in mountainous areas were being observed across Greece on Thursday, as the country prepared for the Greek Orthodox Easter weekend.

Road Traffic Police advised drivers to be particularly prudent on the road, especially when traveling in mountainous or semi-mountainous areas in central and northern Greece. Drivers going up Mount Parnitha in Attica were advised to used snow chains from the cable car service to the casino.

Meanwhile, with winds expected to reach as high as 9 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea on Thursday, authorities advised travelers to contact port bureaus for updates and information regarding sea travel.

Weather conditions were expected to gradually improve by Friday.
