Two dead, three seriously injured in Easter fireworks accidents

Following an Easter weekend when two men, aged 23 and 26, were killed after their fireworks hit power cables in a village near Kalamata in the Peloponnese on Saturday, Greek police issued a report noting that five people were injured after using fireworks.

Three of them were seriously wounded, the report said.

In one case, a 25-year-old man, also from Kalamata, was taken to a local hospital where doctors had to amputate both of his arms, while he also lost his eyesight in the incident.

In another case, two men, aged 60 and 65, both lost an arm early on Sunday in the area of Messini, also in the Peloponnese.
