Skouries miners to step up protests
Miners from the Skouries gold mine in Halkidiki said Friday that they intend to step up their protest against the government’s decision to suspend the permit for the processing plant at the site.
A day after they held a peaceful protest in central Athens, they said that they plan to hold a new demonstration in Thessaloniki next week as well as to occupy the Production Reconstruction Ministry in Athens, which was responsible for suspending the mine’s license.
The workers called for the government to clarify its position on the mine.
