Twenty-six horses found shot dead in Corinthia

Police in the Peloponnesian region of Corinthia were investigating on Monday after more than 26 horses were shot dead on the lower slopes of Mt Zireia.

The incident was reported to the authorities by the daughter of the horses’ 73-year-old owner.

A wildlife expert said that the animals had been killed early last week.

Police found bullet casings at the site.

The motive behind the attack remained unclear.
