Athens Mayor Dora Bakoyianni holds up a stray puppy during an event on Saturday to promote a 1.8-million-euro campaign for the sterilization, treatment and adoption of the capital’s abandoned dogs. Municipal officials plan to catch, sterilize, vaccinate and tag some 5,000 strays, while at the same time launching an adoption program.
