Independent Greeks refuse to back amendment on Athens mosque

Junior coalition partner Independent Greeks voted against two amendments in Parliament on Tuesday in the first sign of serious disagreement with SYRIZA.

The right-wing nationalist party refused to back amendments regarding the construction of a mosque in Athens and the Athens Concert Hall’s debts.

Both of the amendments passed with the support of opposition parties.

Far right Golden Dawn was the only other party to vote against the Athens Mosque amendment.
