Man arrested for allegedly plotting to arm remanded terror suspect

Anti-terrorist squad officers on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old Albanian in connection with a plot to smuggle a gun into Korydallos Prison, western Athens.

The suspect, a former inmate at the maximum-security prison, is believed to have been arranging the delivery of a Kalashnikov rifle to Angeliki Spyropoulou (photo). Spyropoulou, 22, is alleged to have been an accomplice of November 17 convict Christodoulos Xeros while he was on the run.

She also acted as a go-between for the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group until her arrest early March.
