The MSC Sardinia lies tied up at Piraeus harbor. The Cypriot-flagged freighter was the first vessel to enter the commercial section of Greece’s main port this year, at 12.15 a.m. on New Year’s Day. In keeping with tradition, its captain received an award from top port and coastguard authorities. The first ferry to enter Piraeus was the Blue Star Naxos.
