Driver accused of killing 45-year-old arrested

A 21-year-old accused of ramming two men with his car – killing one, aged 45, and injuring the other, 31 – appeared before an Athens prosecutor on Monday.

The incident, which took place in the western Athens district of Egaleo on Friday following a brawl between the driver and the 31-year-old, sparked a vendetta between the two families, both Roma.

Riot police were dispatched to the courthouse to protect the suspect from being attacked by relatives of the victims. His testimony was postponed until Thursday.
