Police in search of suspects firing shots at officers in Nea Ionia
A large-scale police operation was under way Wednesday for the arrest of unknown assailants who fired shots at police officers in Nea Ionia, northern Athens, Wednesday morning.
Reports suggested the shooters had been attempting to rob a cash-dispensing machine on Irakliou Avenue when they were spotted by the on-duty officers. Nobody was reported as having been injured during the incident.
