EKAB workers threaten with work stoppages

Workers at Greece’s ambulance service (EKAB) have threatened to hold work stoppages from Tuesday because of unpaid overtime.

The EKAB employees’ union claims that its members have not been paid since December for working night shifts and on public holidays.

“Unfortunately, despite all the assurances that we have received from the Health Ministry that the outstanding wages would be paid, so far the employees have not received anything,” said the union in a statement.

The ambulance service will operate with skeleton staff during the stoppages.
