Municipal, regional workers walk off job Tuesday
The union representing workers at Greece’s municipal and regional authorities, POE-OTA, on Tuesday has called for a walk-off starting at noon and a rally at Klafthmonos Square, outside the Interior Ministry.
The union is protesting the privatization of waste management at several municipalities across the country and a government decision to extend contracts for municipal sanitation services held by private contractors.
The strike means that all municipal and regional services will be closed on Tuesday.
