Two questioned over separate forest fires
Police on Thursday were questioning two suspected arsonists in connection with two separate forest fires.
The first case involves a 55-year-old ethnic Greek from Kazakhstan who is accused of starting two fires on Wednesday night near the shooting range at Malakasa, eastern Attica.
The two fires were about a kilometer apart and were both extinguished by the local fire service before they could spread far. The second suspected arsonist is a 37-year-old livestock farmer believed to have lit a fire that broke out in forestland in the area of Komitsa, Halkidiki, northern Greece. The fire razed around 300 hectares of forestland.
