Journalists association seeks clarification on Roumeliotis claims
The Panhellenic Federation of Journalists’ Associations (POESY) indicated on Thursday that it planned to approach the International Monetary Fund for explanations following recent claims by Greece’s former representative at the IMF, Panayiotis Roumeliotis, according to which unidentified Greek journalists attended “seminars” organized in Washington by the Fund and by the European Commission.
According to statements by Roumeliotis before members of Parliament’s Debt Truth Committee, the seminars were organized with the aim of “manipulating Greek public opinion.”
The association noted it was “a matter of constitutional obligation and responsibility for all aspects of the affair to be clarified.”
