Greece told it needs staff-level agreement before Eurogroup meets

Greece and its creditors were locked in tough negotiations in Brussels on Thursday morning as an ultimatum issued by the institutions called for a staff level agreement to be reached by 11 a.m. Brussels time, a senior European official told Kathimerini.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras resumed talks with the heads of the institutions on Thursday morning ahead of a new Eurogroup meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. Brussels time. Eurozone finance ministers want to have a final agreement in place before they meet.

Tsipras left talks at the European Commission with representatives of the institutions shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday with no agreement between the Greek delegation and lenders.
