IKA doctors go on strike
Striking Social Security Fund (IKA) doctors demonstrate through Athens yesterday to demand permanent jobs for 5,500 colleagues on short-term contracts. They launched a five-day strike on Monday. Yesterday, IKA Chairman Miltiadis Nektarios said people insured with IKA will be reimbursed for the cost of visits to doctors during the strike. Coast guard authorities got wind of the ship in international waters near Kalamata late on Tuesday. They believe it had set sail from Turkey for Italy but its crew might have changed its mind and decided to head for the Peloponnese. The coast guard and navy moved in to prevent this.
