Major traffic changes at Faliron Delta begin today

As you drive down Syngrou Avenue, Glyfada is on your left and Piraeus on your right – or at least that’s how it was until today, when the new flyover at the Faliron Delta opens for traffic. Vehicles traveling down Syngrou Avenue will now have to get into the left lane to turn toward Piraeus and the right lane for Glyfada and points further east. The main roadworks and Olympic venues are now complete. So as of this morning, anyone heading south on Syngrou Avenue should use caution as there is sure to be some confusion until everyone gets used to the new arrangements. Traffic police will be on hand to point drivers in the right direction if need be. The Environment and Public Works Ministry is preparing further changes on Kifissou Avenue in view of the completion in the next few months of the new section of road to the coast. Between the Dyrrachiou intersection and Athinon Avenue, the median strip will be widened, narrowing the road by 3 meters on either side. Due to other roadworks in the city, traffic flow will be slow on the underpass at the intersection of Kymis and Spyros Louis avenues. In the direction of Galatsi, traffic will be in two lanes but only one in the direction of Pefki.
