Free public transport in Athens on Monday, Tuesday
Commuters in Athens will be able to travel for free on most modes of public transport on Monday and Tuesday following a decision on Friday by Alternate Minister for Transport Christos Spirtzis.
The measure applies to buses, trolley buses, the Athens metro, tram and ISAP electric railway but not the Proastiakos suburban railway.
It was introduced two weeks ago to offset the impact of capital controls and applies only on weekdays, not the weekend, when commuters must have a validated ticket for travel.
