Potami to support ‘Tsipras’s tough decisions’
Centrist To Potami party on Tuesday issued a statement saying that it will support Prime Minister Alex Tsipras in his campaign to muster parliamentary support for a controversial bailout deal with Greece’s international creditors that foresees several contentious bills being pushed through the House in a matter of days.
“We will vote for the commitments made to our allies,” the party said, calling on MPs to behave “responsibly” and not pick their party’s interests over those of the country.
“Those who want their cake and to eat it too are not helping right now,” the statement said, adding that it is unreasonable to expect the opposition “to vote through the tough measures while government officials act like the opposition.”
To Potami also said that it would not participate in a national unity government, saying that the prime minister’s mandate is strong enough for him “to go ahead.”
