Vote on Wednesday won’t include early retirement, farmers’ taxes, gov’t says

Wednesday's vote in Parliament will be on a new code of civil procedure and on adopting EU legislation to bolster banks against crises, not on reforms regarding early retirements and possible changes to the tax on farmers, the government said in a statement on Monday.

The vote on a second set of so-called prior actions demanded by creditors will focus on the new code, which is aimed at speeding court cases, and on adopting the EU's Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive which aims to protect banks, the statement said.

It clarified, however, that changes to early retirements and possible changes to taxing farmers had not been included in the prior actions that Greece has committed to.

The statement followed reports of objections in the ranks of conservative New Democracy to changes in the taxation of farmers.
