Prosecutors on Monday brought charges against the board of directors of the Athens Nursing Home after a probe pointed to the widescale mismanagement of millions of euros in donations and to the embezzlement of smaller amounts.

According to the probe, which relates to the period between 2008 and 2013, at least 120,000 euros was embezzled from the home, while more than 10 million euros in donations made to the institution were drawn on illegally.

Board members hired advisors with monthly salaries of up to 3,000 euros and paid accounting firms although the home had its own accounting office, prosecutors found.
