Ministry, charity join forces to fight child abuse
Alternate Minister for Citizens’ Protection Yiannis Panousis and the head of the Hamogelo tou Pediou (Child’s Smile) charity, Costas Giannopoulos, on Thursday signed an agreement to cooperate in protecting children at risk of physical, sexual and psychological abuse.
Of particular concern are victims of domestic violence, sexual harassment, cyber crimes as well as mistreated and neglected children.
“We will support this agreement with all our powers,” Panousis told a joint press conference with Giannopoulos.
The charity leader said Hamogelo already has a good working relationship with the police and hoped the new agreement would boost it further.
