Parliament speaker chides ministers

Parliament Speaker Zoe Constantopoulou wrote to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday to complain about the behavior of two members of his cabinet.
Constantopoulou accused Deputy Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas and Alternate Minister for Citizens’ Protection Yiannis Panousis of making “insulting” comments about her.
Both of the ministers have been critical of Constantopoulou’s handling of the parliamentary process, which is seen by her critics as officious and patronizing.
The speaker asked Tsipras to take action to ensure his ministers refrain from comments that are “shameful for democracy.”
