A solitary spectator…

A solitary spectator sits in the stands during yesterday’s opening of a three-day international judo contest in western Athens, which will serve as a test event for the August Olympics. The event was not well-attended. The Ano Liosia indoor stadium, which will be used for judo and wrestling matches during the Games, has a capacity of 9,300. As the test event kicked off, laborers were still at work outside, putting the final touches to the venue. The Games start on August 13, and Greece has vowed that all venues will be ready on time. A major project to construct a steel-and-glass roof over the main Olympic stadium at Kalogreza is currently under way.
