Thessaloniki jeweler dies after robbery
A 27-year-old jeweler allegedly shot by an armed robber in Thessaloniki on Tuesday died following surgery on Wednesday.
Reports suggested the victim and his 54-year-old mother were inside the family jewelry store when the suspect, a 38-year-old Georgian, entered the premises and ordered them to fill a rucksack with jewelry items.
When the 27-year-old reacted the suspect allegedly shot him in the abdominal area, before fleeing on a motorbike with jewelry estimated at 20,000 euros.
He was pursued and arrested by police officers after suffering minor wounds during the chase.
