Wheel does not turn bus drivers’ way

Long hours spent on the road, with little money ending up in their pockets: Such is the picture painted by the UBS survey of drivers on Greek public buses with 10 years of service behind them. In this profession as well, Greece finds itself on practically the lowest rung of the EU ladder regarding remuneration, with only bus drivers in Portugal and Spain earning less. Annual wages earned by bus drivers in this country come to 14,241 euros, for 41 hours a week at the wheel, an amount that is less than half of what is earned by their counterparts in Luxembourg (33,966 euros for a 40-hour week) and 4.5 times lower than the wages of Swiss bus drivers.
