SYRIZA MEP goes independent
SYRIZA MEP Sofia Sakorafa announced Friday that she will no longer be part of the party’s grouping within the European Parliament.
Sakorafa said that she will continue as an independent due to her disagreement with the third bailout agreed by the party while it was in government.
Sakorafa indicated that she would align herself after the elections on September 20 with “the forces that came to the fore in the July 5 referendum.”
“What will follow from September 21 will be an even more severe test for the Greek people,” she said in a statement. “We have to start preparing ourselves.”
