Moderate tremor rattles Crete

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Crete on Tuesday morning, the Athens-based Geodynamic Institute said.

The epicenter of the tremor, which struck at 8.04 a.m., was 39 kilometers south-southeast from the Iraklio town of Tympaki, in the Bay of Messara.

No injuries or damage were reported.
