Private firm to be hired for Thessaloniki bus inspections

The Thessaloniki Transport Organization will commission a private company to inspect bus passengers’ tickets and collect fines, company president Christos Stefanidis said on Friday.

Stefanidis said that fare dodging is costing the northern port city’s cash-strapped transport system 15-20 million euros a year, adding that a deal with a private inspection company is expected to be signed next week.
