Cypriot wife, ex, gang up on new mistress

NICOSIA (AFP) – The Romanian wife and Cypriot ex-wife of the man in their life ended up in jail after being found guilty of beating up the «other woman,» reports said yesterday. A Nicosia District Court jailed divorcee Chrysi Christou, 37, and Romanian Mihaela Theodorescu, 32, for one-and-a-half months for the attack on widow Elena Christou in February 2002. The women forced their way into a private home and attacked the occupant, causing her bodily harm. Reportedly, the accused became good friends over their shared devotion to a man called Lambros, whom they suspected was cheating on his wedding vows again. On realizing the husband was shacking up with another woman, they stormed over to the love nest in Nicosia, barged in, pulled the woman’s hair, knocked her to the ground and started kicking her, Alithia newspaper said. Lambros was said to have been asleep in the house during the incident.
