ADEDY to hold stoppage on Wednesday

The civil servants’ union, ADEDY, has called a work stoppage from 12.30 p.m. until the end of public sector workers’ shifts on Wednesday so members can take part in a protest in front of the Labor Ministry.
ADEDY is protesting cuts to civil servants’ supplementary pensions and the protest is aimed at saving the public sector workers’ auxiliary fund, MTPY, from further reforms.
Meanwhile, the main private sector workers’ union, GSEE, is considering calling a general strike on November 12. The confederation’s board met Monday and the strike was discussed as a possible response to the government’s pension reform plans.
