Signs of devastation appear in an olive grove near the eastern Cretan village of Arkalochori yesterday, as the heavy snow that covered much of the area following weekend storms began to melt. Many villages in the area were cut off by snowdrifts up to 5 meters deep, while the electricity network suffered extensive damage.
