Freak accident leaves one dead, five injured on Athens-Lamia highway
One person died and five people were injured late Friday in a freak road accident involving a runaway tire on the Athens-Lamia national highway.
The accident occurred in the area of Malakasa after a 24-year-old southbound driver lost control of his vehicle due to slippery conditions, before crashing into a median barrier. The crash, which left the driver injured, caused one of his vehicle’s tires to come off, bounce across the divide and smash into the windshield of an oncoming tour bus.
The bus driver also lost control of his vehicle, which fell on its side, killing one passenger and lightly injuring three.
