National emblem to be taken off military uniforms

Greece’s national emblem is to be removed from the uniforms of officers in the country’s armed forces, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Hellenic Armed Forces General Staff (GEETHA) said that the decision was taken in order to simplify officers’ uniforms.

The emblem consists of a white cross on a blue escutcheon, surrounded by two laurel branches. It will remain on officers’ caps
