Extra staff to investigate Swiss bank accounts

The country’s financial prosecutor has asked for assistance in investigating more than 10,000 data sets on accounts of Greeks in Switzerland that were handed over to Greek authorities by Germany’s western state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

During a meeting at the Justice Ministry on Monday, officials agreed to appoint an additional financial prosecutor to look into the accounts with assets estimated to be worth up to 6.5 billion euros.

Officials in charge of the case have agreed to hold weekly meetings to discuss progress.
