TV worker accused of raping child had placed cameras in staff restrooms

A 56-year-old man who stands accused of raping a 9-year-old girl and of distributing child pornography online is alleged to have placed secret cameras in the women’s restrooms of the television station where he worked.

The suspect was remanded in custody on Monday after denying that he repeatedly sexually abused the daughter of a neighbor in the northern port city, but admitted to watching and disseminating child pornography online.

Footage seized from his computer has also allegedly revealed that he had been spying on women using the restrooms at the TV station, where he worked as a handyman. A search on Tuesday of the ET3 station's premises turned up small cameras in the stalls of the ladies' bathrooms.

Testifying to a prosecutor on Monday, the 56-year-old claimed he suffers from psychological problems and alcohol addiction.
