The first round for the election of New Democracy’s leader was expected to take place on December 20, following a failed attempt on November 22, when IT problems led to the cancellation of the ballot process.
Organizing the vote this time round was Vodafone. A second round, if necessary, was expected to be held on January 10.
Competing for the conservative party’s top job are MPs and former ministers Evangelos Meimarakis, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Adonis Georgiadis as well as Central Macedonia Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
MP Yiannis Plakiotakis was acting as interim head until the new election.
