One dies, two rescued in Piraeus fire

Firefighters recovered the charred remains of an unidentified man and rescued two other people from a four-story building in the Piraeus district of Mikrolimano, where a fire broke out early Thursday.

The abandoned building was being used for shelter by homeless people at night, according to local residents. One of the two people rescued from the building sustained burns and was transferred to the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the blaze was unclear.
