Metro, ISAP, tram workers protest attack on ticket inspectors

Workers on the Athens metro, ISAP electric railway and tram will walk off the job from 9 p.m. on Wednesday night in protest at an attack against three ticket inspectors at Omonia station.

The three inspectors were assaulted on Monday night by about a dozen men wearing hoods and helmets. They were taken to the capital's Evangelismos Hospital to receive treatment for a range of injuries.

Workers on fixed-track modes of transport are demanding measures to protect inspectors from similar incidents, saying that there has been a spike in attacks from disgruntled members of the public in recent months.
