Athens tax office bomb scare over

Police on Tuesday confirmed that an anonymous phone call made earlier in the day warning that a bomb had been placed at an Athens tax office was a hoax.

The tax office in Nea Ionia in northern Athens was evacuated and bomb disposal experts dispatched to search the building after the call was made in the morning to Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper.

A second call followed, warning that the explosive device was timed to go off at 11 a.m.
