Refugees, migrants rescued in the Aegean

Six refugees and migrants were rescued by Greek coast guard officers off the island of Oinousses Sunday, authorities reported, while another 50 refugees and migrants were rescued earlier in the day on the crossing from Turkey.

Meanwhile, Turkish authorities said their coast guard rescued 57 refugees and migrants after they were stranded on an islet off the coastal town of Dikili.

At the same time, a drowned 2-year old boy became the first recorded refugee casualty of the year on Saturday, after the dinghy he was crossing over in crashed into rocks off the island of Agathonisi, Greek authorities said.
