A large-scale search operation was under way in the area of Pentalofos in Messolonghi, western Greece, to locate two men, aged 35 and 40, who were reported missing early on Friday.
According to reports, the two men spent New Year’s Eve at a bar in the area of Neochori and were last seen shortly after 4 a.m. on Friday.
Police and fire service forces along with special rescue EMAK teams were taking part in the search being carried out in the broader area.
An EKAM team scouring Acheloos River was forced to quit its efforts due to heavy rain on Saturday. According to witnesses, the two men had allegedly consumed large quantities of alcohol before they went missing.
