Baby airlifted from Athens to Rome for liver transplant

A 5-month-old girl on Tuesday was airlifted from the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital in Athens to a specialized health facility in Rome, Italy, in order to undergo an emergency liver transplant operation, authorities said.

According to reports, the infant was being treated in the hospital’s intensive-care unit when medical staff detected she was suffering from acute liver failure.

The airlift was organized by the Hellenic Transplant Organization in association with emergency unit EKAB and Aglaia Kyriakou medical staff.
